6 months full-time and 3 months of real-life programme and internship
This is a domain open for innovation, and individuals that wish to succeed in it, need to be able to understand the evolution it has experienced.
The design of innovation requires multi-disciplinary competences, when design choices of a product or service are integrated into a broader vision of management and corporate strategy, taking into account all the material and immaterial aspects of the project ― such as strategy, organization, communication, relations, technologies. A designer’s job implies the aptitude to keep a constant dialogue with different players, to lead an active role while proposing new scenarios, aesthetic visions, cultural values.
Participants will be taught a new, innovative approach to design: to ask the question “why to do” a product or service before “how to do” it. They will analyze in-depth the poetics through the investigation of the meanings of form, icons and image of products in order to develop their individual language of expression. Besides the “problem-solving” skill, typical of the design culture, participants will be encouraged to develop a “problem-setting” approach as well, in which the practical knowledge they have gradually acquired becomes part of the individual capability for critical elaboration.
The programme develops competences in service design to respond to the corporations’ need to offer quality services with high added value. The attention is drawn to the concept of interaction between the service and the user, so that the focus would shift off the corporation’s infrastructure in relation to the service and its identity towards the service experience of the customer.
Initially conceived as a stylistic technique, merely giving shape to objects, design is increasingly becoming today a complex, challenging discipline which strategically contributes to the product’s value and culturally outlines different aesthetic and social visions.
